Robert Longwell, Esq.

Robert Longwell is a member of Longwell & Associates, a Palo Alto based food and drug law firm.  He has been with the firm since 2004.  His current practice focuses on medical device and pharmaceutical marketing applications, worldwide.  He is well versed in engineering and science.

Educated at Bowdoin College and Stanford University, Robert is an inventor and a registered patent attorney.   He is a registered professional engineer in civil engineering and holds an advanced degree in engineering management from Stanford University, in addition to undergraduate degrees in Physics and Chemical Engineering.  While pursuing a successful career in engineering construction full time, Robert attended the evening program at Santa Clara School of Law, graduating in 1998.  Robert was admitted to the California Bar and Ninth Circuit Court in 1999.  His regulatory legal experience began in 2004 when he joined the firm.

Since joining Longwell & Associates, he has concentrated in the areas of compliance and regulatory submissions.  His experience at the firm includes drafting of contract documents, research agreements and various submissions to regulatory authorities.  His experience in that area is broad; ranging from neurological devices to medical software.  He has prosecuted 510(k) and PMA applications to the FDA and drafted technical files and documents for submission to notified bodies in the EU.

Robert is the father of twin preschoolers.  He serves on the board of the Beth Longwell Foundation, a charitable organization created in the memory of his wife, who died of lung cancer in 2007.  He also is a reserve police officer and is involved in community preparedness and homeland security issues.
